Situated 20 km far from kattullamala, vayalada is another picturesque hill top in this region. The greenery, blue sky and the trickle of small streams at the Vayalada during monsoon is a serene view. Deep fog around this region in monsoon creates a intense sensory boost to the traveler. The view point is 2000 ft above sea level and nearby towns such as Perambra, Koorachund and Kakkayam can be seen from the top. View points at Vayalada are Mount Vayalada view point, Island view Mullanpara and Kottakkunu view point.
At the top the cloud bed is seen at the eye level, and the hill range below that along with small streams and water bodies, make the view from the top every traveller’s dream. Thonikadavu is a nearby tourist attraction. 7 Km s far from kattullamala, It’s a beautiful meadow that nature has adorned with a green carpet. Some lonely trees dancing here and there with its shadow and the tree logs on the side of the river immersing its legs on to the river bed. These visuals often remind us about Ooty and that’s why its called Kaka bars Ooty.. thonikadavu is enroute Kozhikode to kakkayam. 45 kms far from Kozhikode in balussery road, we can reach here. The route to the place is also adventurous.. another high light of the river is the round rocks on the river which feels like some one intentionally paved it. There are also groups there which provide horse riding to the visitors. Thonikadavu also offers a small park for children , cafeteria seating amphibious theatre boat riding. These were the part of second phase of development planned by tourism department.
